My name is Cody Shorter and I have no idea what I am doing.
I'm glad that's sorted.
The Sunshine Coast Frontier Podcast kicked off in early 2017. I’m relatively new to the coast and I thought this was a good way to get out and meet new people. A foot in the door which enables me to speak to interesting people.
As the interviews grew larger in number I started to think about the direction of the podcast. I spend upwards of 6 hours per episode (scheduling, interviewing, travelling, editing, uploading, producing show notes, etc) so I may as well put that time to good use. Try to do something that will have an impact.
So where to start?
I’m not very interesting, but I’m interested. I’m interested in how things work. I’m interested in people.
- What drives people?
- Why do some people/movements succeed and others fall flat?
- I’m also interested in the word ‘community’.
- What is community?
- We all say it’s important...but is it? Why?
I want to explore these concepts. But these are general concepts that apply the world over. How about here on the Sunshine Coast?
Is it different here?
I want to find out how people are getting things done locally. It can’t just be because they are smart - there are plenty of smart people out there who haven’t done anything and are unhappy. Is it luck? Is it hard work? Is it education? Is it their ability to connect with people?
To summarise, I’m aiming to explore:
The way people here on the Sunshine Coast get things done.
The role community plays in the above.
Why? To What End?
I want to show people that there are others out there like them, at different stages of the journey doing awesome things. That a small group of people can have a massive impact. I want to motivate them to reach out, to connect and to make things happen. To get after it.
The Podcast is far from perfect. I’m fumbling my way through. But that’s the point. You don’t have to wait for things to perfect. You can’t.
